Flora’s Flyer for 12 November 2016

Dear Parent/Carer

We are delighted to send warm congratulations to Mrs Mackenzie on the birth of her son, Finn this week. A warm welcome is extended to Mr Davies who has joined us while Mrs Mackenzie is on maternity leave. Mrs Jenny Wood left on Friday to start her new post at Wardie Nursery. Mrs Wood will be greatly missed and we wish her well for the future.

It was a great pleasure to show ten Head Teachers from Taiwan around our school on Thursday to share the learning and teaching. The older children particularly enjoyed the opportunity to speak with our visitors in Mandarin.

Our whole school STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) focus week will start on the 21st on November.  Pupils will experience a workshop focussed on STEM concepts and skills.  We have secured support from a variety of private companies and education establishments.  Each class will undertake a STEM mini project to demonstrate their STEM skills.

The nasal flu spray will be administered to pupils throughout the day on Monday 14th November.

Your child/children will have brought home proofs of photographs taken by Tempest Photographers this week. The deadline to order photographs is Friday 18th November.

A reminder that the next Parent Council Meeting is on Monday 21st November at 7pm in the Music School. Have you bought your tickets for the PC Movie Night yet? If not, you will need to be quick as tickets are selling fast!

Our second round of Flora’s Forums was a huge success on Friday. Thank you everyone!

Well done to the following pupils who received a Head Teacher’s Award this week:

P1 Sophia, Miku, Maia, William, Innes and Leo

P2 Carmen, Vincent, Licy, Isaac, Ben and Akshar

P3 Amy, Erica and Sofyan

P4 Robyn, Dominik and Charlie

P5 Emma, Hailun and Hadley

P6 Peter, Kasey and Douglas

P7 Katie and Weston

Many thanks to P5b who presented a thoughtful Remembrance assembly on Friday. Your letters were very moving. Well done and thanks also to Joel, Amy and Amelia for their wonderful music.

Best wishes

Irene Brennan
