Flora’s Flyer for Monday 30 November 2015

Dear Parent/Carer

After a very wet and windy weekend, the Christmas lights switched on in the City Centre and Nativity songs drifting through the school …. ‘It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!’

We are looking forward to our Christmas activities a great deal and to sharing some of them with you.

We start off the Christmas season with the Recital from the Music School on Wednesday 2nd December at 4pm.

We then have our annual visit to the Lyceum Theatre for Primaries 3 to 7 on Thursday 10th December. This year we look forward to a production of ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.’ Meanwhile back at school on the same day, the Nursery, Primary 1 and Primary 2 will be enjoying a visit from Hopscotch Theatre. Their Christmas production is ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’

As always, we have our eye on Road Safety around the school. The Junior Road Safety Officers are promoting the message, ‘Be Safe, Be Seen.’ They would like everyone to come to school on Friday 11 December as bright as possible – fluorescent bands, flashing lights, hi-vis jackets etc. We will then have our ‘Hi-vis’ Assembly, supported by iBike and SUSTRANS.

On Tuesday 15 December, the Nativities start..

In the Nursery, the Ladybirds classes present their Nativity story to parents and carers at 10.45am and 2.45pm.

Primary 2 welcome their parents and carers to their Nativity, ‘The Sleepy Sheep’ at 1.30pm.

On Wednesday 16 December, it is the turn of the Butterflies to sing their Nativity songs to their parents and carers at each class – 10.45am and 2.45pm.

We will enjoy our Christmas Lunch on Thursday 17 December before Primary 1 present their Nativity, ‘The Sleepy Sheep’ to parents and carers at 1.30pm.

Each class will also have a Christmas Party during the last week of school.

We would like to invite parents and carers of children in Primaries 3 to 7 to our Christmas Assembly in St Stephen’s Church at 9.30am on Tuesday 22 December. In the past, all children attended this assembly however the increase in school roll has meant that we cannot all fit in. Primary 1 and 2 parent/carers have the opportunity to see their child in our Nativity Productions.

The children will be given their nasal spray flu vaccination on Thursday 3 December.

End of Term Closing Times.

The Primary School closes at 12 noon on Tuesday 22nd December.

The Nursery closes at 3.30pm as normal on Tuesday 22nd December.

Staff return on Wednesday 6th January and children on Thursday 7th January.
