Parents as Partners in their child's Learning
We warmly welcome you to our curriculum evenings to hear about the plans for this school year. These sessions are for parents only. Please make alternative arrangements for your child/ children.
Primary One parents/carers are warmly invited to come along to school on Tuesday 8 September from 6.30 to 8pm. Please meet in the school hall where, after a short presentation, you will visit the new classrooms to find out more about the learning in our P1 classes and how you can support your child.
The following Week on Tuesday 15 September, we warmly welcome parents from P2 to P7 to hear about this school session with your child's teacher. There are two times to choose from to help parents with more than one child attend different class talks. The first talk will take place at 6.00 and will be repeated at 6.30 pm. A letter will be sent home and we would be very grateful if you could indicate if you are able to attend. Thank you.
We are very grateful for all the support from our Parent Council to enhance the learning and teaching in our school. This year's AGM is on Monday 7th September from 7pm to 9pm in the Music School. Please do come along. All parents and carers are members of the Parent Council and we look forward to seeing you on the 7th.
School Netball Club P5/6
The school’s Netball Club was started up last term by some parents with the support of Netball Scotland, Active Schools, and our excellent coach Christine Fourie. The girls who joined last term loved it. It will restart on Friday 4th Sept 12.30 - 1:30pm in the school gym hall and there are spaces for new players to come along. No experience needed, just enthusiasm! At the moment it is for P5 and 6 but Coach Christine is hoping to find another slot for P4s and possibly P7s in the future.
Contact robert.ure@ea.edin.sch.uk if your child would like to join.
The Active Schools' Programme went out this week. We are delighted with the response. Information on our other clubs to follow.
Very well done to Primary 6 who participated in Blindcinema at the Filmhouse this week. We are very proud of you all!
This week’s Head Teacher Awards go to:
P2 Euan, Bella, Isobel and Harvey
P3 held over to next week as classes were out at the Book Festival
P4 Hanna, Denzel and Lilly
P5 Jamie, Sam and Finlay
P6 Ben G and Skye
P7 Jack and John
Well done, everyone!
I'm sorry to have to mention car parking so early in the term. Please use Waitrose's car park. They have very kindly and generously offered their car park at drop off and pick up times. Please do take advantage of this offer to park safely and ensure the safety of all our children. Thank you. Please do not use the carparks of Carlyle Court, RBS or the Post Office.
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes
Irene Brennan
