Miss Hutt and her parent volunteers were all geared up to go with the events laid out and had to pack it all up again. We will try again on Wednesday 10 June and hope you can join us on that date, weather permitting!
Our Book Club order is open until 7th June. You can order online at http://schools.scholastic.co.uk/flora-stevenson. Have a look at the latest brochure for great bargains to read over the summer holidays.”
Congratulations to Mika, Shakira and Lucy in P7 for their amazing performances at the Music School Twilight Concert this week.
We are looking forward to recitals from all Music School pupils on Wednesday 3 June at the Primary Music School Summer Recital at 4pm.
P1 had a fabulous trip to Lauriston Castle this week. A big thank you to all the helpers!
Ms McGhee is enjoying visiting all the nurseries of pupils starting in August and we look forward to welcoming them for a visit to Flora’s on Tuesday 2 June.
Fantastic Fundraising.
P5A and P5B were touched by the plight of the people in Nepal after the recent earthquake and have raised an amazing £694.11 for Mercy Corps! The classes held a sponsored ten minute run and a sponsored two hour silence. This is a wonderful amount and we are very proud of them all! Well done!
Library Refurbishment Fund
Do you have your raffle tickets? Just a reminder to return your raffle ticket money to the office and if you don't want your tickets please return them to the office for others to buy. Thank you for your support and thanks to the fundraising group for sourcing such great prizes!
Are you interested in the wine tasting event? If so, please let the committee know by Wednesday 3rd June. Forms are available outside the school office.
Katie and Carolyn have done an amazing job as fundraisers and it’s time for them to hand over to others. They are happy to chat over what the fundraising group does. Please see below. This also went out by Parentmail this week.
Could you help raise funds for Flora’s?
The Parent Council needs a new fundraising individual or team who can continue the work of raising funds for our school. As the school is more than 100 years old there are always extra things which the school needs to raise funds for, always something which needs replaced or updated – the library being a prime example.
You would be in charge of organising fundraising events which not only act as social events but also raise essential funds for your children and enhance their time at Flora Stevenson’s.
The role does not need to take up a lot of your time. You just need to allow some time for forward planning and organising. If you have organised a birthday party for your child it isn’t too dissimilar!
It is a great opportunity to get to know your school better and to make a real contribution to the school community. It’s fantastic when you see the money rolling in to buy what the school needs.
You don’t have to do it on your own. Get together with a fellow parent or two. You would be the planners and organisers and when it comes to the actual events you will find there is no shortage of volunteers to help on the day. You can follow the template of events which have been put on in the past or bring along new ideas.
Passing the job on to new people each school year brings in fresh ideas, maintains enthusiasm and means the burden is never too great.
