Flora’s Flyer 5 June 2015

Dear Parent/Carer

Let’s hope the sun shines on Wednesday 10 June for our second attempt to enjoy our Sports Day. We look forward to seeing you if you are able to join us.

Our Nursery classes have planned their Sports Day for Tuesday 9 June. Well done and thank you to everyone who supported the Nursery Fayre this week. A great time was had by all!

Thank you if you have purchased raffle tickets for our library improvement project. Please hand your sold and unsold books into the school office.

The Tweet your Street Project was launched this week with Edinburgh Makar, Christine de Luca. Well done to our super poet who took part. Their poems are also displayed on the windows of the Central Library!

We thoroughly enjoyed listening to our Music School Pupils perform at their end of year Recital last Wednesday. Well done to you all!

Congratulations to our pupils who competed so well at the Interscholastic Competition this week! We are so proud of you all!

Thank you to P5a and P1/2 for their amazing assemblies today. What a lot of hard work and effort finding out about earthquakes and minibeasts! Wonderful singing and dancing too!

Best wishes

Irene Brennan

A message from the Scottish Government:

The Scottish Government has proposed to increase the provision of free childcare to 1140 hours per year for children who are 3 or 4 years old, as well as for vulnerable 2 year olds who are eligible for the 600 hours free entitlement through the Children & Young People’s Act 2014. With this in mind we are conducting a survey exploring how parents would wish to use this increase. The results of this survey will help guide policy on early years child care provision. In order for the survey to produce representative results it is important that we reach as many parents of 3 or 4 year old children from as wide a variety of back grounds as possible, this includes those who do not currently use free child-care provision.

The survey is available at the following link.
