End of Term Newsletter 25 June 2015

Dear Parent/Carer

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support this session. What a fantastic year at Flora’s. We are very excited at the prospect of our new library, new classrooms and new playground. A special thank you to Parents, Carolyn Embleton and Katie Llewellyn for raising an amazing £12,364.17 for the library refurbishment!

Thank you to you all for supporting all our fundraising events. We were able to send generous donations to The Huntingdon’s Society, Heart Foundation, Drum RDA, Mercy Corps, EWRASAC, Lothian Autistic Society, The Yard, Children in Need, Comic Relief and many others.

Primary 7 have such a short time left at Flora Stevenson’s. They have been fabulous monitors and helpers all through their final year, setting a great example to our younger pupils. They enjoyed a three day visit to their High Schools last week and a fantastic Under the Sea themed party! We wish them all the very best for the future.
Very best wishes also to all our pupils and parents who are moving to new schools both here and abroad.

Thank you to the Music School Pupils for providing music at all the school assemblies.
Thank you to all our helpers and supporters!
We would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported the school in so many ways this year. Without your commitment we would not have been able to offer our children such a wide range of positive experiences.

Staffing changes

Many congratulations to Ms McGhee who has secured the post of Acting Head Teacher at Colinton Primary School. There will be some time for transition with both schools at the beginning of the term before Ms McGhee leaves.

We would like to extend our special thanks and very best wishes to Mrs Coleman who retires after 19 years at Flora’s and to Katie Macdonald, Our Modern Apprentice in the nursery.

Also to Mr Marshall, Mrs MacGuire, Mrs Bisset and Ms Tang. It has been a real pleasure having you all on the staff at Flora’s and you will all be missed.

A very warm welcome to Mr Brocklehurst who joins us as permanent member of staff in the Nursery. Miss Renwick, Miss Blair & Miss Graham join us for their probationary year and we also welcome Miss Yarrow & Miss Cook onto the permanent school staff.

School closes at 12.00 noon on Friday 26 June.

Staff return on Thursday 13 August. Children return on Monday 17 August. The Nursery classes start again on Monday 17 August at 8:30am.

We would like to wish you all a very happy, relaxing holiday and I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August.

Best wishes

Irene Brennan
