This is our final Flyer of 2014 and what a busy year it has been. This week has been no different and all pupils and staff have been working hard in the run up to the holidays.

This Week

Throughout this week our pupils have enjoyed getting dressed up (or down) for their Christmas Parties. It has been lovely to see the pupils enjoying themselves playing the games and of course eating the treats!

P7 have been working extremely hard this term on a Restaurant enterprise project. This culminated in a learning showcase on Wednesday morning. The event was well attended by parents and family and special thanks must go to Ms Rollo of ROLLO in Raeburn Place and to Mrs Laing a Hospitality expert for taking the time to judge their work. Well done to the two winning Restaurant concepts, the Wee Hoose, and Deano’s. Look out for special themed menu days in the New Year.

A very special visitor came to Flora’s on Wednesday afternoon for the P1 and P2 Christmas Party. The pupils watched excitedly as they saw Santa run round the school on the ‘CCTV’ camera! Everyone came out of their classrooms to sing ‘Jingle Bells’ to him.

On Thursday the whole school visited St. Stephen’s Church Comely Bank for the annual Christmas Service and it was great to see so many of our parents and carers joining us too. Our P7 narrators did a great job and I am sure you will agree that our talented musicians played beautifully. Thanks must also go to Ms Emslie for supporting the P7 Instrumentalists in all the rehearsals for their big moment. I really enjoyed listening to the singing of our Choir. Thank you to Ms Black our Music Specialist for giving up her time to work with this group.

Today we dressed down in Christmassy clothes to help raise money for the Ebola crisis in West Africa as suggested by a group of our P7 pupils. We will let you know a final total as soon as possible.

Important Messages

Lost Property – Any items left behind by pupils on the last day of school will be kept until Friday 9th January. After this time they will be donated to the clothing bank. Please encourage your child to check that they have all their belongings and remember to label everything – particularly new Christmas gifts!

We would all like to thank Miss Barnes for all her hard work over the past few years and wish her well on her new adventure! Good Luck!

Finally I would like to say on behalf of Mrs Brennan, the staff and pupils, a big thank you for your support and generosity throughout the year. We hope you all have a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas holiday and we look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Tuesday 6th January for when our Scottish Fortnight begins.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
