A warm welcome to this week’s news from Flora’s.
We were delighted to welcome over a hundred visitors to our
Open Day for the parents/carers of pupils starting in August 2015. We hope
their visit gave them a snapshot of our school. We were very proud indeed of
the very hard-working atmosphere in all the classes – thank you to everyone!
Please remember to enrol your child this week for
Primary One in August 2015.

Class Assemblies
We also welcomed parents and carers of Primary 7a and
Primary 2/3 to their child’s class assemblies on Friday morning. P7
commemorated Remembrance Sunday with among other items; fantastic peace poems
and a beautiful rendition of ‘The Last Post’ on the cello by Shakira. Thank you
to all of P7a for a thoughtful and moving assembly.
P2/3 told us all about the special ingredients that make a
good friend and we loved their performance of ‘Who wants a friend like Snorty
Bull!’ Thank you P2/3 for a wonderful assembly!
The assemblies finished with twentyfour pupils
being presented with Head Teacher Awards. They then attended our
special Head Teacher’s Tea party. P7 girls were presented with a
trophy for winning the Girls’ Rugby Tournament at a recent Transition to
Broughton High School Sports Day. Well done to you all!
Thank you to all the parents and carers who have
visited the Primary 2/3 and 3 classes to tell us all about their work. We were
very interested indeed and found out a great deal about the world of work.

Nasal Flu spray
A reminder, that his Thursday and Friday children will
receive the nasal flu vaccination.
Parent Council
The next Parent Council Meeting is on Tuesday 11 November at
7pm in the Music School. The Playground Development Group will also attend and
outline the initial proposals for the playground development. We look forward
to seeing you then.
Car Parking
Once again, we have received complaints about the dangerous
parking outside school and in the Bank car park. A customer was so concerned
that he twice narrowly avoided an accident in the Bank car park due to the
number of cars that he came into school to let me know. PLEASE
ensure that all our children are safe and park your vehicle in designated car
parking spaces further from the school. Do we really have to wait until a child
is injured before parents park responsibly?
Thank you for your support in parking away from the school.
Coats and Shoes
As winter approaches, the weather can often be quite
unpredictable throughout the day. We try where possible to allow
pupils out to play every day – even in light rain. Please ensure that
your child comes to school each day with appropriate outdoor clothing and
shoes.
On days where the weather is very wet in the morning, please
remember that the front doors will open at 8.40am for pupils in P1 and P2 to
shelter in the Gym Hall.
The doors of the Dining Hall will open at 8.40am for pupils
in P3-7.
Best wishes
Irene Brennan
