Sunday 25 May 2014

The weather is getting warmer and we are now in full swing this term with lots of activities and events planned for the last five weeks of the term!

It was lovely to see so many family and friends of P3a at their wonderful assembly on Friday morning. P3a taught us such a lot of interesting facts about Lego and their singing of the song from the Lego Movie was a fantastic end to their assembly!

We are looking forward to a sunny, fun Sports Day on Thursday afternoon, fingers crossed for a dry day! Thank you to Miss Hutt for planning and organising this event. GOOD LUCK to our P5 golfers who are competing in the Club Golf Final on that day too!

The Primary 7 pupils who have started publishing a blog with book reviews, author interviews and updates on new books in our library, would be delighted if you would take a look at their latest posts. The blog can be found at http://florasbookgroup.blogspot.co.uk

Fundraising – Hairy Haggis Marathon.
Teams of parents/carers and staff are running a Marathon on Sunday in aid of funds to improve our playground. Thank you very much to the runners! If you are able to cheer them along the route or send in a donation, we would be delighted! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!

News from the Parent Council
The next Parent Council Meeting is on Monday 26 May at 7pm in the Music School. We look forward to seeing you then. The following Tuesday 3 June is the second workshop for parents run by Playback Ice to support the work of the Parent Council. It would be great if you could come along and contribute to the discussion! 6.30 to 8.30pm.

Save the Date!  The school Summer Fair is on Saturday 14th June between 2pm and 4pm.  It's going to be a fun packed afternoon with music from the school choir and bands, stalls selling lots of things from plants to pre-loved uniform, and activities including beat the goalie, wellie boot throw, a bouncy castle and crafts to name a few. There's also face painting, balloon modelling and a tattoo and a nail bar.  There will be a cafĂ© serving cream teas and home baking, as well as Di Rollo’s ice cream and freshly made pizza slices by La Favorita.

Thanks to all those who have made donations so far.  Please keep your donations coming - we need bottles for the tombola, old uniform, children’s books/DVDs, and jam jars filled with treats (things like marbles, stickers, sweeties, Lego).  All the money raised is going to buy much needed IPads for the school, so help us make our Summer Fair a great success."

Coffee Mornings
Our last informal drop in Coffee Mornings for the session take place on Monday 26 June for Parents/Carers of children with an additional support need and on Monday 2 June for all parents and carers in the Dining Hall from 8.55 for an hour. We look forward to seeing you!

Road works around the School
Orchard Brae will be closed for resurfacing. Please take extra care and allow plenty of time to arrive at school on time. Thank you.

Lateness
There are still lots of pupils arriving late for school – nearly 40 names in the late register on one morning recently. Please make every effort to arrive in school on time, thank you.

The Nursery Spring Fair
The Nursery Spring fair will be held on Wednesday 28th April. This event is for parents and children in our nursery. There will be a variety of stalls including face painting, tombola and food from around the world. More information is on the fair flyer and the nursery notice board.
