Flyer for 01/12/2017

Dear Parent/Carer

We have just had our second Flora’s Forum and our groups came up with their action plans! Our Rights Respecting group will be working with the Parent Council to plan an international day, Our Pupil Council and House Captains made a film to help us with our Golden Goal (moving around the school quietly), our Gardening Group spruced up the planters, our website group came up with the idea of flying a drone around the school and getting a birds eye view of Flora’s ours and our Newspaper group are busy writing articles! A fantastic Friday!

As usual please remember to name all clothing. Our unnamed lost property goes on a table outside the office every Friday and anything which is named is returned. Some children have been wearing trakkie bottoms, leggings or jeans to school and our preferred preference for school uniform is trousers, skirts or shorts, thank you.

Today some of our Primary 6 pupils spoke in assembly about how we treat others. The pupils came up with their own script, posters and even made their own drama! We heard a strong message about what is ok and not ok and when we need to stay stop!

We have a number of events planned for the next three weeks and unfortunately, due to personal circumstances, George Vidits, the Minister at St Stephen’s Comely bank will no longer be able to be at the Church Service on Tuesday 19th December. Logistically we are unable to change the date and he is sorry that we will not be able to have the service this year. We value our relationship with George and we have agreed that we will visit the Church in the New Year. P2 and 3 parents are still more than welcome to join us on the last day of term for Carols on the Balconies!

The school have been informed that over the next three weeks PMK engineering will be carrying out work on Orchard Brae and Comely Bank Road. The work will result in parking restrictions and limited access to pavements. PMK have assured me that they will contact me and inform me of any restrictions immediately outside the school. I would be grateful if you could adhere to safety notices and barriers and as soon as I have more information I will email you.

Congratulations to the Jamieson family who won my last Playground Patter Prize! A lovely box of my favourite truffles are coming your way! I have asked over 200 people to name our Values and our next step is to work with our Pupil Council to come up with a way to  ensure that everyone knows what they are!

We are looking forward to the Parent Council film event tomorrow! We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Ms McGhee and everyone at Flora’s
