Flora's Flyer for 03/11/2017

Dear Parent/Carer

A fantastic week at Flora’s!

This week I tasted apple compote made by Primary 3, joined in with an African dance led by our P6s, joined in with some incredibly imaginative play with our P7s who used cardboard boxes to transform themselves, heard the P4s sing songs from Willy Wonka, laughed and was a wee bit scared of some of the Nursery Fancy Dress Costumes, saw P5 be brilliant examples of our Golden Goal and met with the P1 and 2 team to plan the Nativity!

I also had the privilege of attending The Day of the Dead, a celebration of life concert at the Queens Hall. Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski presented a programme which celebrated the lives and work of Mexican, Latin American and Spanish composers and which included young people from the City of Edinburgh Music School conducted by Ms Emslie. A triumph!

Our Primary 3, 5A and 6 parents have been invited to come in to school next week to see and hear what we have been learning in school. We are also delighted that Deidre Brock our MP will be visiting us next Friday.

Some of our children were involved in the ‘Fairies’ project in the Botanics. The doors – along with a description board that explains the back-story of each fairy - will be on display in the John Hope Gateway building within the gardens from Friday 3 November at 2pm until Sunday 5th November. It will be the only chance to see all 44 within the Edinburgh garden before they go on display at the other gardens within the Botanic family next year - Benmore in Argyll, Dawyck in the Scottish Borders and Logan in Dumfries and Galloway.

Several of our boys were involved in the trials for the Edinburgh Select P7 Football Squad, an achievement in itself.  Daniel Harcus and Jamie Bulloch have been selected to play on the squad.  Well done, a massive achievement!!

Today was a historic day at Flora’s. Every single child from Primary 1 to Primary7  was involved in a Flora’s Forum. We’re really looking forward to hearing their plans and ideas.

Wishing you a lovely weekend
