Flora’s Flyer for Friday 9th June 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

Rain stops play! We were disappointed to have to cancel our Sports Day on Thursday. However, fingers crossed for a dry day on Thursday 15th June.

Hopefully, the weather will be kind to us tomorrow, Saturday 10th June for our Summer Fair. The fair runs from 2pm to 4pm and we hope you can join us. A group of parents are busy setting up this afternoon as I write this and the stalls look amazing. Thank you for all your contributions and donations.

Mrs Beaven (Teacher of P1) finishes on Tuesday 13 June to commence her maternity leave. Very best wishes from us all.

The City of Edinburgh Music School pupils were wonderful at their Recital last Wednesday. What a lot of hard work to produce such a wonderful Recital. Well done indeed!

Our Netball Team played brilliantly at St George’s School Netball Tournament. Congratulations and well done!

Our P6 Football Team have had a great season and are through to the Final of the School Board Cup. They would be delighted to have support from everyone. If you are free, the game kicks off at 18.45 at Meggetland Sports Ground, Colinton Road. Good Luck to the team!

News from the Chess Club: We've been taking part in an online tournament in chess club this term and our A-team of Conall, Flossie, Kasey, Pavel And Rocco won their league and our B-team of Mahima, Tristan, James, Franek, Simeon and Marshall came 5th.

On Sunday, Pavel played in the Chess for Kicks final (a Scotland-wide tournament) in Motherwell and won the under 600 section without losing a game.

This weekend Flossie, Pavel and Rocco are going to the Chess Scotland Primary Individual Championship. This is an invitation-only event with only 36 Primary School children from all over Scotland taking part, so just getting an invitation is a great achievement. As well as playing chess they'll be having some adventures too, as it's a residential weekend at an outdoor activity centre.

Our Nursery to Primary 1 Transition is well under way. We were delighted to welcome the children and parents/carers of our new intake for August. We look forward to a long and happy partnership.

Head Teacher’s Awards were presented today to:

P1 Miku, Lilia, Bailie, Clara, Martha, William, Brodie and Innes.

P2 Ludwik, Sophie and Isabella

P3 Ellie and Ben

P4 Oliver, Stella, Kirsten and Lois

P5 Charlotte, Jamie and Lilja

P6 Lewis, Caroline and Clara

P7 Finnegan and Asmeda

Thanks to Amy for playing the piano so beautifully at assembly.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Best wishes
