Flora’s Flyer for 18 May 2017

Dear Parent/Carer

We are all super excited to see the Rainforest Hut start to emerge today. It will be a great addition to our playground. The Friend Support Group were hard at work in the playground adding custom artwork to their friendship bench. Huge thanks to Judy Clarke for all her hard work to make both of these additions to our outdoor space happen.

Mr MacInness retires on Friday and will be greatly missed by all at Flora’s. He has been a fantastic Janitor and we wish him well for a healthy and happy retirement.

I was delighted to watch our P6 Football Team play in the School Board Cup this week. The Team demonstrated super teamwork and great skill as they won their group to go through to the semi-finals.

Our P7 netball team also showed great skill and super teamwork when they played in the Edinburgh Schools Summer Netball Tournament last Friday. They played really well and ended up second in their group, just missing progressing to the semi-finals in a tournament of lots of strong teams. We wish them lots of luck for their next tournament at St. George’s next Friday afternoon.
Well done to both teams! As always we are very grateful to all the volunteers who support, coach and run our sports teams.

Our nursery children are looking forward to their Sports Day on Tuesday 23rd May. We really hope that the sun will make an appearance!

The Head Teacher’s Awards were presented to:

P1 Chloe, Jamie, Isla, Rachel, Zawaad, Leonie, Leo and Louis

Thank you to P2c for a wonderful assembly on ‘Living Things.’ The class impressed us all with their clear voices, fantastic artwork and beautiful singing. Well done indeed!

A reminder that Monday 22nd is a holiday. School is open on Monday 29th May.

Have you marked the Parent Council Summer Fair in your diary yet? Saturday 10th June from 14.00 to 16.00.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday.

Best wishes
