Dear Parent/Carer
We hope all your preparations for the Christmas period are going well. This is such a fun time of the year in primary schools and we have enjoyed a wide variety of events this week. Lots of performances showcasing the wonderful work happening at Flora’s. P6b started the week off with their performance of ‘Oliver with a Twist’ which was hugely enjoyable. Thank you to all three P6 classes who have worked hard on their productions and we look forward to the final class production next Tuesday.
P1 and P2 wowed us all with their wonderful nativities this week. What a lot of hard work but well worth it!
The Combined String Orchestra of Flora’s and Broughton High School’s performance on Tuesday night at Broughton was excellent.
After School Clubs also showcased their learning and we were delighted with the performances from the Drama and Ukulele Clubs.
A group of our P3 and P4 singers delighted the staff at Scottish Widows on Orchard Brae today with their renditions of some popular Christmas songs today. Staff at Scottish Widows very kindly donated £140 to the school. Thank you.
The nursery, P1 and P2 also had a great time when Hopscotch Theatre came to school on Wednesday to present their Pantomime ‘Aladdin.’
Thank you also for all your generous donations today for our ‘Christmassy Dress’ day and the Parent Council Bake Sale. Thanks also goes to our House and Vice-house Captains for their great raffle in aid of playground equipment.
Well done to all!
P4 are looking forward to their ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ event on Monday. Look out for lots of Oompa Loompas in school on Monday!
Lots of ‘Mad Hatter’ hats have appeared on the P5 landing. All three classes enjoyed drama workshops this week and are having a great time learning all about ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’
This week’s Head Teacher Awards were presented to:
P1 Lana, Leo, Zach, Izy, Millie, Rory, Ruby and Finn
P2 Honor, Charlie, Matthew, Jessica, Robbie and Akshat
P3 Shyami, Roberto and Rita
P4 Iris, Poppy and Olivia
P5 Rocco, Bobby and Amelia
P6 Andrew and Ashal
P7 Ellie and Yousef
Congratulations to Andrew in P1 who won the colouring competition at Pringle’s Warehouse and has been invited to have breakfast with Santa on Sunday. Well done!
We send huge thanks to Ms Fraser, Acting Depute Headteacher and Ms Sulzberger, P6b teacher for all their hard work and commitment to Flora’s. Ms Sulzberger is returning home to New Zealand and we look forward to welcoming Mrs Lancaster back to Flora’s to teach P6b. (You may remember her as Ms Barnes.)
Ms Fraser will return to Murrayburn Primary. It has been a real pleasure working with her for the last eighteen months while Ms McGhee has been on secondment as Acting Head Teacher at Colinton Primary. We look forward to welcoming Ms McGhee back as our Depute Head Teacher for Early Years.
