Dear Parent/Carer
This seemed like a particularly quick and busy week with the Monday holiday at the beginning of the week!
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Lorna Greig as our new school administrator while Ms Caroline Barker is on maternity leave.
The Parent Council AGM is from 7 to 9pm on Monday 3rd October in the school dining hall. All parents/carers are welcome and we look forward to seeing you. Refreshments will be served. Please look out for a leaflet on the Parent Council in schoolbags next week.
The City of Edinburgh Music School String Ensemble, conducted by Ms Emslie performed at the Scottish Learning Festival on Wednesday 21st September.
Ms Emslie reports:
‘The City of Edinburgh Music School opened the Festival and played just before Deputy First Minister, John Swinney did his key note speech. He started his speech by saying that never before had he nor the audience experienced such a joyous start to a conference.
The children played fantastically well and there are several members of the String Ensemble that started their time in the Music School at Flora Stevenson Primary. I am a very proud Assistant Director of them all.’
This week’s Head Teacher’s Awards were presented to:
P1 Lana, Chloe, Freya, Hudson, Aliaskar, Maisie, Noah and Ethan
P2 Sophie, Dexter, Sofia and Lucy
P3 Catherine, Finn and Nathan
P4 Iris W, Dylan and Despoina
P5 Ella, Niamh, Joseph and Callum
P6 Eilidh, Milo and Alex
P7 Ruby and Maia
Many thanks to Amelia for playing her piece ‘Swallow’ so beautifully on the piano at the start of today’s assembly. Huge thanks to P4a who presented the first class assembly of the session. P4a told us all about the importance of a growth mindset. It was a fantastic assembly. I particularly liked their song, ‘You Can Do It!’ Well done to all
Have a great weekend and don’t forget that the amazing Septemberfest Event is on Saturday at Broughton High School. Fingers crossed for fair weather.
Best wishes
