Dear Parent/Carer
Week two of the Spring Term completed already! We enjoyed meeting up with Parents and Carers last Monday at the Parent Council Meeting. We are looking forward to the Parent Council Ceilidh next Saturday 28th January. It’s always a wonderful, fun event. We are immersed in all things Scottish at the moment and we invite children to come to school wearing tartan or traditional clothes from around the world on Friday for a suggested donation of £1 to support the Polar Academy. See information below. The other option is not to wear uniform on Friday for a donation as above.
The Polar Academy
Four ex pupils of Flora’s have been selected to take part in an expedition to Greenland, going in March 2017. Out of 274 S4, 5 & 6 pupils from Broughton, they were whittled down to 10, they all worked amazingly well, on the final selection day, hill walking, canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling, puzzle solving, then finally, a presentation about themselves.
5 are in the expedition team, 5 are in the leadership team.
It's a 12 night trip pulling their sleds 60 kilometres, loaded with their tents, food, sleeping bags and equipment. It's a fantastic opportunity for the young people. We would be delighted if Flora’s pupils could support us.
